I've been thinking about this for about a year now.   It seemed natural that I would need a way to communicate with my students, friends and associates (in that order).  I had heard of blogging but didn't know what it was.  I've waited for things to mature a bit and for the tools to get better.  I also now have a compelling need beyond simply talking to myself.

I'm writing a book.  I use the present tense because I intend to use this blog as the basis for that book.  I will explore ideas.  I'll try things that may or may not work.  It will evolve and develope as we move along.  Ideas and suggestions of what you think a book about filmmaking from a cinematographer's perspective is what I will be writing.  It won't be a textbook per se as much as an exploration, like this blog.

It should be noted that every sentence in this intro so far has started with "I".  I hope the blog doesn't stay that way.  I want to hear from "you."

Let's get started.
